Purpose: This study aimed to enhance the satisfaction of clinical practice students majoring in ophthalmic optics and provide data/materials for more efficient clinical practice guidance by researching the relationships between the stress of clinical practice, somatization, and satisfaction with clinical practice.
Methods: This study included 181 students enrolled in the Department of Ophthalmic Optics who had experience of clinical practice in optical shops and eye clinics. Statistical analyses were performed using the SPSS ver. 21.0 statistical package program.
Results: It was found that the stress of clinical practice had a low positive correlation with somatization, somatization and satisfaction had a low negative correlation with clinical practice, and the stress of clinical practice had a high negative correlation with satisfaction with clinical practice. The sub-factors of the stress of clinical practice affecting satisfaction with clinical practice were value ideals (¥â = ?0.290), practice role (¥â = ?0.195), practice environment (¥â = ?0.184), and clinical instructor (¥â = ?0.152). Higher satisfaction with clinical practice was linked with lower somatization.
Conclusions: The preparation of a means to prevent and improve physical symptoms caused by stress in clinical practice, somatization, and practice and professors¡¯ continuous emotional support are presumed to be necessary.
